You are enough as you are.

Therapy to help you build self-compassion and wholeness within yourself.

IFS Therapy and parts work is a type of therapy for anxiety, depression, and trauma that can help you:

  • Feel more connected to yourself — your thoughts, emotions, and body

  • Transform old ways of being that keep you stuck in the same cycles

  • Externalize what may be difficult to say through regular talk therapy by using experiential approaches and expressive arts practices

  • Develop somatic and mindfulness skills to help you manage overwhelm, internal conflict, and thought spirals

  • Have a deeper understanding of how you protect yourself and where that comes from.

Meet Chris Datiles —
LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC Affirming IFS Therapist in Los Angeles

It’s possible to release the worries, burdens, and
inner-conflict you carry.

As an IFS therapist, I help you untangle from the pattern of making yourself small to make room for others, so that your self-worth is no longer attached to how much you give. My role is to help you to slow down and heal the worries, burdens, and inner-conflict that keep you from showing up differently — so you can embrace your values and embody the life you envision for yourself.

How does IFS therapy work?

IFS therapy is built on the foundation that we all have parts of our personality that work together as a team to help us manage life, feel safe, and protect us from harm. Like any community, these parts can also come into conflict with each other. I’ll guide you in IFS Therapy to explore the role each part has in your life and why, how you feel towards all the parts of you, and find ways to help them work better together so that you can experience transformation and healing.

What are the goals of IFS therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy is guided by four goals:

  1. To liberate parts from roles they had to take on to survive, and shift into new roles that help you feel a sense of safety, confidence, compassion, and curiosity.

  2. To build self-trust and self-compassion.

  3. To achieve balance, harmony, and wholeness within yourself and with others.

  4. To bring healing and transformation beyond the individual and into your relationships, your community, and the world.

Who can benefit from IFS therapy?

IFS Therapy can be helpful for you if you:

  • Have a natural curiosity about your history of emotions, coping skills, and how you show up in relationships.

  • Are open to engaging in experiential practices such as meditation, clay, art, and poetry to externalize your thoughts and feelings.

  • Feel like your self-worth is dependent on how much you can give to and please others.

  • Experience shame related to your sexuality, sexual orientation, or gender identity due to experiences with religious trauma.

What can I expect in IFS therapy?

storytelling. exploring. updating. integrating.

  1. Storytelling: We’ll get to know the different parts of you and how they show up as thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and coping skills.

  2. Exploring: Once we identify the parts you would like to focus on, I’ll guide you to explore the history of how those parts have helped protect you from harm and overwhelming feelings throughout your lifetime. You’ll also explore your thoughts and feelings towards these parts.

  3. Updating: As this process unearths the pain and trauma you carry, I’ll support you to release and heal from any pain or belief you no longer want to hold on to by engaging you in experiential activities that help you reconsolidate memories—the process of updating old distressing memories with new information—and that help you cope in new ways when you feel overwhelmed.

  4. Integrating: With every update you’ll begin to integrate new beliefs and a sense of compassion, curiosity, and clarity in your daily life. You’ll notice yourself feeling like you have the agency to make different choices when overwhelming feelings and beliefs come up.
